DDKSSM - what once started as one man's vision to empower underprivileged youth turned into an institution fostering education, culture, traditions, sustainable development and equality for all.
Durga Dutt Kapilashrami Smarak Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya (DDKSSM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of educating students from impoverished families. With the belief that education is the fundamental ingredient in combating poverty and creating a more globally aware society, the institution was started as a grassroots movement to:
Empower poverty ridden children by providing free education and support their boarding and lodging.
Ensure overall development of the students enabling them to become independent and responsible citizens - providing education that is relevant and can provide immediate economic value.
Promote and promulgate the Sanskrit language, perpetuate the Indian value system and cultural heritage and Vedic knowledge at the national and international level.
The DDKSSM trust was established in 1996 and the school has been operating successfully since 1997 through support of donors, trust members, friends from worldwide and the Kapilashrami family. DDKSSM is affiliated with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
